The inaugural Indiana High School Team Pickleball Club League — which becomes the road to the first-ever Indiana High School Team Pickleball State Championship in the sport's history. Coed teams. Fifteen Regional Facilities — professional indoor pickleball centers — serving all Indiana high schools. All it takes is just two girls and two boys to put YOUR school on this historic path!
Matches use the coed collegiate team format — five events, each worth one team point. First team to three points wins, but all five events are usually played to maximize participation.
That's all it takes to field a team. Rosters carry up to 6 players in the regular season and up to 8 in tournament play — enrolled students, grades 9–12, certified by their school. Schools may field more than one team until the Club Championships begin; from there, one team of up to 8 players through the State Finals.
Girls Doubles, Boys Doubles, Mixed Doubles #1 and #2 — then, when it's tied 2–2, the HeartBreaker: a rotating singles shoot-out tie-breaker that is the most exciting finish in team pickleball.
The season starts after every IHSAA winter sport begins and ends before the first spring sport starts. Your basketball, swimming, and wrestling programs never compete for athletes.
Every Indiana high school is assigned to a professional indoor Regional Facility — its home court for the season — for practices, match days, special clinics and events, and the Regional Championships. No weather, no waiting for a gym.
Pick your regional site to see weekly match results and current team standings. Results are posted after each match weekend, starting November 21.
The Press Box belongs to Indiana's student journalists. High school newspaper departments (or school-approved student writers) file short reads, and TV sports departments (or school-approved videographers) file short videos — match highlights, interviews, or your own creative story lines. One rule for everything: the one-minute rule — about a one-minute read, about a one-minute video. Every submission is reviewed before it's published, the wall holds the ten freshest pieces, and it turns over every few days — so keep filing.
This is a sample card showing what a published read looks like. Your piece runs right here — about a one-minute read on the match, the team, or the moment nobody in your gym will stop talking about. Two seniors down 18–14 in the HeartBreaker. A comeback. A dogpile at the kitchen line. You were there; tell the state.
This is a sample card showing what a published video looks like. Your school's TV sports department cuts a highlight reel or feature of about one minute, posts it to the school's channel, and the watch button below plays it for the whole state.

It is the first Indiana statewide league for high school pickleball clubs. Schools field teams of boys and girls who play other schools' teams at their Regional Facility, mostly on weekends, from late November through mid-January, followed by Regional Championships and the road to the State Championships, which end on Championship Saturday, February 13, 2027, at Drew Brees Championship Court, Picklr Noblesville.
IIPA is inviting 412 Indiana high schools, the IHSAA member and provisional member schools that field interscholastic sports teams. A school does not need an existing pickleball club to register; registering is a fine way to start one.
No. IIPA is an independent nonprofit, and the league is a club activity organized outside the IHSAA calendar, during the window between winter and spring sports. Schools take part the way they would in any club activity.
A team is at least two boys and two girls. A match has five events: Girls Doubles, Boys Doubles, Mixed Doubles 1, Mixed Doubles 2, and a deciding fifth event called the HeartBreaker. A school may bring up to eight players to a match and may enter more than one team.
At one of 15 Regional Facilities, professional indoor pickleball centers across Indiana and into Ohio. Each school is assigned to the Regional Facility for its area. Matches are played indoors, on everyday courts, mostly on weekends.
The regular season runs ten weekends, starting November 21, 2026, with a break over the holidays, and ending January 30, 2027. Regional Championships are played in the final weeks of the regular season. The State Championships are held in the Indianapolis area over the first two weekends of February, ending on Championship Saturday, February 13, 2027, at Drew Brees Championship Court, Picklr Noblesville.
$180 for a school's first team for the season, and $60 for each additional team. That fee covers the league itself: organization, schedules, standings and score posting, the rulebook, medals, the Regional Championships, and the road to the State Championships. Court time and anything else a Regional Facility offers are arranged between the school and its Regional Facility; IIPA is not involved in those arrangements.
Click “Register Your School” on this site, choose your school, and pay the team fee. Registration closes October 30, 2026. Your first team is automatically named for your school and mascot (for example, Rushville Lions); additional teams are numbered (Rushville 2, Rushville 3, and so on).
Each school names a Pickleball Club Sponsor, a teacher or other adult approved by the school, who is IIPA's main contact for the club. Teams may be coached by the sponsor or by any school-approved adult age 21 or older who knows the game.
No experience is required; many players will be new to the game. Players need a paddle and court shoes, and IIPA's Pro Shop page will list partner discounts for students. Schools that need help with equipment or fees can apply to the Every Kid Plays Fund.
Any student at a high school can be in that school's pickleball club, subject to the school's own rules. The club sponsor and coaches decide who plays in matches based on their own criteria. IIPA does not decide who is on a club or who plays; players must be enrolled students at the school they play for.
Every player and a parent or guardian sign IIPA's Participant Agreement and liability waiver online before the first match. IIPA carries liability insurance for its events, follows Indiana's concussion protocol, and each Regional Facility has an emergency action plan. Students remain under the supervision of their school's adult at all times.
Every match result is posted on this site, and each region's standings update automatically. The top finishers in each region advance to the State Championships, where the 48 schools that qualify through the 15 Regional Facilities play through two weekends, and the last two teams standing meet on Championship Saturday, at Drew Brees Championship Court, Picklr Noblesville.
Yes. At season's end, IIPA names the Indiana All-State and Indiana All-Star teams — and crowns the first-ever Miss Pickleball and Mr. Pickleball, in the tradition of Indiana's Mr. and Miss Basketball. Selections draw on season results, championship play, and player VAIR ratings.
Yes. A school may enter as many teams as it likes during the regular season and can change lineups from week to week from its club roster. Before championship play, each school names one eight-player Championship Roster for its mascot team; that roster represents the school in the Regional Championships and the State Championships.
Yes. The Press Box publishes short stories and videos produced by student journalists and school broadcast programs, with season awards for the best work. Student announcers who earn top honors call the semifinals and the championship match on Championship Saturday.
Anyone can give to a specific school's pickleball club through “Sponsor a High School,” support students who need help through the Every Kid Plays Fund, or join the Founding Friends. Businesses can learn about sponsorship in the Sponsors & Partners section below.

Underwrites hardship waivers and equipment expenses so cost never keeps a school or a student off the court. The most story-rich investment in the league — and the one families remember. Donors are notified every time the fund puts a school or student on the court, and every thank-you that comes back is shared with the contributors who made it happen.
Give directly to the school you care about. Whether you're an alum, a teacher, a parent, or a neighbor, your gift is earmarked for that school's pickleball club — put toward whatever the club needs most, or toward the purpose you name — and delivered to the school as funds or as club credits for future expenses.
Put your name on a program that grows the game — and the students: referee certification, coaches education, adaptive pickleball innovation, broadcast honors, and the health of the communities these schools call home. Indiana’s best and brightest will be tested on and off the court. As each program is announced, it will appear here with a way to learn more and contribute to its success.
Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze amounts are minimums — every gift above a level’s amount is recognized at that level.
Our mission: to foster a lifelong love of pickleball among Indiana's youth — promoting physical fitness, healthy competition, sportsmanship, scholarship, and community through the fastest-growing sport in America. We believe every Indiana student deserves access to the game, regardless of income, ability, or how they go to school — and that a sport learned at 15 can keep a Hoosier healthy at 85.
J.R. Billman is a hospital-based Clinical Staff Pharmacist in Avon, Indiana — a Hoosier born in Rochester and raised in Rushville. A past member of the Indiana State Board of Pharmacy, elected by his fellow Board members to serve as its President, he is a graduate of the University of New Mexico College of Pharmacy, where he received the Eli Lilly Award for Leadership, Scholarship, and Ethics. A former collegiate tennis player and serial entrepreneur, he picked up pickleball in November 2025 and saw what the sport was missing: the visible pathway every kid understands — a high school team to make, a state title to chase, a next level to dream about. He founded the IIPA to build that pathway and put a paddle in the hand of every Hoosier kid who wants one — and, teacher and coach by nature, to make every pickleball court a classroom where lessons bigger than the game are taught.
